New Year Ahead road signWhatever the reason you’re looking for a new wig, approach the process with optimism and excitement! A new wig can create a new you – to whatever extent you desire! When looking for a new wig, consider a subtle change in length or color, or go for a drastic change. The choice is yours!

There are several things to consider when looking for a new style. First, consider what is hot and trendy for the season. The latest hairstyle trends for this year are leaning toward full-bodied styles with layers of waves. For the colder seasons, let your hair flow long to your shoulders and beyond. Long hair trends for 2016 include layers that frame your face or drape over one side of your forehead. Parting your locks on the side is a must to boost volume and style. (more…)

  4. Will Wearing a Wig Hurt My Scalp or Ruin My Existing Hair?

    January 4, 2016 by Lori's Wigsite

Wigs provide more style options than almost any other beauty accessory. As you shop for the right wig, you’re likely to have a lot of questions about the types and styles available. Many of our clients also have health-related questions such as “Will wearing a wig damage my hair?” We know that you’re concerned about protecting your scalp and hair, so here’s what you need to know about how to protect your natural hair under a wig.

Caring for Your Natural Hair While Wearing a Wig

If you’ve lost hawigir due to alopecia, cancer or another medical issue, a wig can actually help protect your remaining hair so long as you know how to wear it correctly. First and foremost, don’t forget about your natural hair just because you’re wearing a wig. It’s still important to wash and condition your hair on a regular basis. It’s especially important if you tend to sweat while wearing a wig.

Minimizing sweat during wear is also important. For daily wear, a wefted or open-cap style is the best wig cap to protect hair. An open cap allows your scalp to breathe while you’re wearing the wig, which means less sweating and greater comfort. Regular exposure to fresh air is important for combating the growth of germs and mildew, and you should never put your wig on when your hair is wet or damp. (more…)

  6. Remembering September 11th

    September 11, 2013 by Lori's Wigsite

    To Our Readers,

We would like to take this opportunity to remember and honor our heroes, the victims, the survivors and their families that were affected by the September 11th attacks.

Today marks the 12th Anniversary of a day that we will never forget.  Across the nation we come together to support, grieve and remember those lost in the terrorist attacks.

A memorable quote by Rudolph W. Giuliani on December 31, 2001 stated, “The attacks of September 11th were intended to break our spirit. Instead we have emerged stronger and more unified. We feel renewed devotion to the principles of political, economic and religious freedom, the rule of law and respect for human life. We are more determined than ever to live our lives in freedom” (Source).

With that said, continue to live your life with a more positive outlook towards life and commit yourself to express your feelings to those around you. As a nation our society is fast paced and it is so easy to lose track…of yourself and your relationships.

Remember to not only take a moment of silence today to remember the victims and how 8:46am changed the world, but to remember the importance of our freedom every day.

    Thank you.

    April 1, 2013 by Lori's Wigsite

The race is on! Teams for the Relay for Life are in full swing this time of the year raising money and awareness for the fight against cancer. It is an amazing event that was started in 1985 and since then has raised over $4 billion dollars (source).

This month has been declared, “National Cancer Control Month” by the President of the United States (source).  Stated in his proclamation,”Each of us can reduce our risk of developing cancer by maintaining a healthy weight, exercising regularly, limiting alcohol intake and sun exposure, and living tobacco-free.”

With cancer many find themselves facing hair loss.  Hair loss can not only be physically stressful but emotionally as well. A mayo clinic staff member stated in an article, “You might not think about how important your hair is until you face losing it.”  That is completely true. Although hair is just “hair”, every day we wake up, wash it, dry it, style it, comb it, etc.  We pay hair dressers throughout the year to cut/trim it so all of sudden facing hair loss can be a dramatic experience.

Lori’s Wigsite has a variety of wigs and hairpieces for men, women and children in all different colors. We even offer a free service to help you select the right color by matching your hair sample to the closest available wig/hairpiece color.  For details on sending a hair sample.

As always if you have any questions or need help finding a wig/hairpiece we have a wonderful staff waiting to hear from you!

    Have a great April everyone.
